Accounting for nearly 40 per cent of the world population, India’s and China’s rise as persuasive powers is heavily influencing the balance of global finance, trade, competition over natural resources, technology, foreign investment and intellectual property rights (IPR), not overlooking the concerns over climate change, global governance, balance of power and security. This remains the defining feature of Asia and its rise. No matter how much India’s and China’s respective rise has impacted the current global politics, the world seems to be taking a strong note of their rise, and is preparing to accommodate them in the regional and global decision-making process within a milieu of multipolarism.

This book analyses the structure of India-China relationship in a complex Asian environment and beyond. It examines the relationship structure of India-China relations, bilaterally and globally in a complex Asian security complexity of power equations and equilibrium, which are the two extremes of this relationship. Contributors explore three main aspects: (1) India-China mutual perceptions in a rapidly changing Asian security order and to explore whether "Asian Equilibrium" is a realistic proposition; (2) the impact of the boundary dispute and the beyond-border complexities that will affect their future relationship and, eventually, the Asian order; and (3) the emergence of strategic equations surrounding India and China that will be influencing the Asian and global order in times to come.
